Joey Kramer is a legendary rock n’ roll drummer with the most successful band in American history-Aerosmith. Since 1970 he and his partners have sold more than 100 million albums, and today their multigenerational, global audience is bigger than ever. They headlined the Superbowl show twice in just the past few years, and their music has been used in ads for Dodge, General Motors, Best Buy, and Target, among others. In addition to the Grammys and the 21 multi-platinum albums, they are the subject of several documentaries and Joey alone is the subject of a thirty-minute documentary called “It’s About Time.” In 2001, the band was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, but their true place in American culture is better indicated by the “Aerosmith Rock n’ Rollercoaster” at Disney MGM Studios and their guest appearance in the “Flaming Moe’s” episode of “The Simpsons,” in which Bart’s teacher tries to seduce Joey in the band’s tour bus. Joey lives with his wife of 28 years, April, south of Boston.

Description

Joey Kramer, who has been the drummer for Aerosmith since it was founded in 1970, reveals his story set in the wildly glamorous, crazy, drug-addled world of some of the greatest rock stars in history. This is the first time that an individual member of Aerosmith has written a book. With crowds of 30, 40, 50 thousand fans still screaming for more, this book unpacks the history of one band member who was both fragile and tough, who after years of insane wildness got himself off drugs, only to find that the real terrors and real work were still ahead.
