Judika Illes
When Judika Illes was 6, she saw a deck of tarot cards and promptly fell in love. So began a lifelong love-journey into the magical and mystical arts. It took Illes many years to master those tarot cards. In the meantime, she also immersed herself in astrology, mythology, folklore, spell-casting, spirit-working, herbalism, and various other traditional healing arts.
Her love for the magical arts served as the impetus for three huge and definitive encyclopedias: The Encyclopedia of 5,000 Spells, The Element Encyclopedia of Witchcraft, and the brand-new Encyclopedia of Spirits. Illes is also the author of two smaller books: Pure Magic, which is a guide to the spell-casting process, and Magic When You Need It. She teaches workshops in spell-casting, spirit-working, and divination.
Illes has a degree in English and Communications from Rutgers College and a certificate in Aromatherapy from the Australasian College of Herbal Studies, where she taught introductory courses in aromatherapy for several years. She served as an editor for Tour Egypt, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism’s monthly online magazine for which she wrote a series of influential articles, Beauty Secrets of Ancient Egypt. Illes has been a disc jockey, a skin-care specialist, a multicultural studies teacher, and the anonymous author of a funeral services website.
